Tamanu Beach

Authentic Polynesian hospitality awaits Tamanu Beach guests

Located on the ‘bluest lagoon in the Cook Islands’

Family built, owned and operated, Tamanu Beach is the union of two brothers’ dreams.

Tamanu Beach emits casual luxury. The resort built in 2 separate ‘wings’ that are set 150m apart. Accessed along the white sand beach that fringes yes, the bluest lagoon in the Cooks.  Reception and the resort’s restaurant are located in ‘Manea’ Wing which now accommodates families with children of all ages in One Bedroom Bungalows.  Adults seeking a child free environment, can retreat to Purotu Wing in the Garden, Lagoon View and Beachfront Bungalows.

All accommodation has been refurbished over recent years and each feature indoor and outdoor showers, local artwork (done by Cousin Tim). Furnishings milled with local timbers, polished floorboards, Polynesian decor and covered decks.  That are spacious and comfortable.

Come and sit at our table

The past 20 years, everyone on Aitutaki heads to Tamanu for their Sunday Sunset BBQ. Here locals and visitors mingle over a huge spread of local delicacies straight from ‘mum’s’ recipe book.  Each Thursday, guests are invited to join the Takurua, a feast of Aitutaki flavors followed by a local cultural performance. Inclusive of singing, dancing and fire (naturally!)  Also included in your nightly rate is a full breakfast at Tamanu, and the resort’s restaurant opens for lunch and dinner daily.

Explore our backyard

Tamanu offers all the standard non-motorised watersports you’d expect. On the bluest of lagoons, enjoy the morning kayaking or snorkelling. On land Mopeds (charged) are available to explore Aitutaki Island or ride one of the resort bicycles.  Nevertheless people, visit Aitutaki to explore the lagoon and no visit is complete without a Lagoon Cruise.  This can be organised in house, or prior to your arrival.  There’s hiking, fishing tours, golf and diving also available. Plus, whale watching for those visiting between July and October.

You particularly feel at home on arrival at Tamanu Beach.  The resort owned by family (the Henry Family).  There is a level of care, a friendliness, and a generosity. After that, exists a resort that’s run by a management that not only takes huge pride in its location, bricks and mortar, but also cares greatly what you think.  To certainly make an impression and share their dream with every guest.

This happens at Tamanu.  And it makes your stay here so much more valuable.

Lovely ambience, lovely staff, great place to stay

This super resort is reasonably priced, has great amenities, and the staff go out of their way to help you. Sure, you can go top end but why would you when the Tamanu Beach has it all anyway - including the sort of laid back, Island ambience that you went on holiday for in the first place! TripAdvisor.com
