As you look out from your spacious deck into the endless blue of the ocean, broken only by the distant silhouette of the verdant Beqa Island, you realize you have found an island paradise that exists only in a handful of places in the world.

Royal Davui’s 16 luxurious Vales are nestled throughout the island’s lush tropical gardens, encircling its 10 acres and ensuring guest privacy and seclusion. Positioned to maximise the ocean view, and minimise the impact on the ecology, each stunning accommodation is extravagantly spacious. Each features a sun deck, climate controlled private plunge pool, spa bath, separate lounge room and modern amenities.

With vaulted ceilings using local timbers wrapped in ‘magi magi’ (woven decorative fibre), walls adored with vibrant local artwork and thatched roofs, your Vale (‘home’) is everything you dreamed your Fijian island escape would be.

Now with renovations under way in 2024, the vales will feature a more infused natural look. Modern, contemporary decor with a light airy feel.

Dining with a view

Royal Davui’s bar and restaurant encompasses a series of private decks sheltered by a resplendent old Banyan Tree, elevated to again maximise the uncompromised ocean view. Meals are included in your nightly rate here, and the menu changes daily, ensuring fresh, locally sourced, seasonal dishes that complement the weather.

There are adventures to be had

If you can drag yourself away from your Vale, there is much to do on and around Royal Davui. Some of Fiji’s most vibrant snorkelling and diving can be found in its vicinity and for thrill seekers, the Shark Dive is a once in a lifetime experience. Surfers can take on Frigates Passage, and game fishing can be organised. There is a day Spa, a gym as well as a variety of non-motorised watersports equipment.

However, the ‘number 1 must do’ experience is the Castaway Sand Cay Beach Picnic. When the tide permits, a tiny islet of exquisite white sand is exposed from the most extraordinary clear turquoise waters. 7 minutes from the Island, you will be dropped off with a time appropriate hamper (breakfast, lunch or sunset cocktails depending on the time of the tide). Just the 2 of you. And the endless ocean. Bliss.
