Apatoa Beach & Garden Village

A welcoming boutique island stay shaped by owner-managers Nathalie and Didier and inspired by their own travels and a love of French Polynesia.

As unconditional lovers of Polynesia, we wanted to pay tribute to this welcoming land by subtly integrating its vibrant culture and generous nature into our establishment. This hotel concept is the result of our own travels around the world. …We are happy to share our vision of travel and hope that you will feel the dedication and enthusiasm that we have infused into every corner of this refuge.”

— Nathalie and Didier CANDALOT, owner- managers.

A family affair. Authentic Island Hospitality on Raiatea

Apatoa Beach & Garden Village is a 4-star hotel, restaurant and spa on the west coast of Raiatea, French Polynesia.

This is definitely a very different kind of stay in Tahiti.

It is not an ultra-luxury private island or a large resort. Instead, Apatoa offers an art-inspired, owner-led Raiatea experience with beach and garden villas, local hospitality, a lagoon-side setting, a restaurant, a spa, and a relaxed island atmosphere.

Set in Tumaraa, Apatoa is made for travellers who want comfort, authenticity and a deeper connection to Raiatea.

A More Local Way to Stay in Raiatea

Apatoa Beach & Garden Village feels personal from the beginning.

Created by Nathalie and Didier Candalot, the property is the result of a family project shaped by travel, Polynesian inspiration and a love of hospitality. The feeling is thoughtful and independent, with spaces designed to bring together local authenticity and international hospitality.

This is the kind of place that suits travellers who want to feel welcomed, not processed.

Days can be as easy as breakfast by the lagoon, time on the white-sand beach, a swim in the pool, a spa treatment, dinner at Atipika’a, or a quiet drink as the sun drops over Raiatea’s west coast.

For Island Escapes travellers, Apatoa is a lovely choice when the brief is simple. The ‘go to’ choice if their escape needs to be authentic, comfortable, peaceful and genuinely connected to place.

What we love most? Design, Art and Island Character

Apatoa has a creative spirit that makes it feel completely different from a standard island hotel.

This is one of the first things guests notice. Colour, shape and artistic detail appear throughout the property. The villas themselves feel sculptural, with shell-inspired forms that give the resort a playful and memorable identity.

The style is modern, vivid and distinctly French, while still sitting within the gardens, beach and lagoon of Raiatea. It is not trying to copy the look of other Polynesian resorts. Instead, Apatoa has its own point of view.

For travellers who appreciate design, art and atmosphere, Apatoa offers something rare in French Polynesia. It feels creative, personal and full of character, while still offering the comfort and ease of a 4-star island stay.

It suits travellers who appreciate atmosphere, not just facilities. The setting feels modern and artistic, while still remaining relaxed and easy to enjoy.

The result is a stay in Raiatea with personality. Quiet, creative and unlike anywhere else in the Tahiti resort collection.

Each Guest Felt Truly Special

"We had an incredible stay at Apatoa Beach and Garden Village! The rooms were beautifully decorated, fresh, and spotless — you can tell a lot of thought went into creating the perfect vibe. The bar setting was ideal for watching stunning sunsets, and the food was absolutely outstanding. The owners were also on-site, making sure everything ran seamlessly. Overall, an amazing experience — we highly recommend it!"
