Bloody Mary's Hotel

Bora Bora Lived Differently

A legendary island name returns in a fresh new form. Reopening in Summer 2026 (September), Bloody Mary’s Hotel brings the spirit of Bora Bora’s famous restaurant into a boutique 53-room stay on the main island of Bora Bora, close to Vaitape, Povai Bay and Matira Beach.

An iconic name returns to Bora Bora in September 2026. Be the first to discover a more social and accessible Bora Bora island escape.

A legendary island name returns in a fresh new form, offering a lively boutique stay on Bora Bora’s main island.

Bloody Mary’s Hotel is a fresh new chapter for one of Bora Bora’s most recognisable names. Inspired by the legendary Bloody Mary’s Restaurant, this 53-key boutique hotel brings together the playful energy of island hospitality with contemporary comfort, lagoon views and a strong sense of connection to Bora Bora life.

This is Bora Bora, but lived a little differently. Instead of a high-end private island resort experience, Bloody Mary’s Hotel gives travellers a more grounded way to enjoy the island — close to Vaitape, Povai Bay, Matira Beach, local restaurants, shops and the everyday rhythm of the main island.

An interesting little history lesson

The original Bloody Mary’s Restaurant has been part of Bora Bora since 1979, known for sandy floors, shared tables, fresh fish, cold drinks, and an easygoing atmosphere that has welcomed travellers, sailors, film crews, musicians, celebrities, and locals for decades. The new hotel carries that story forward, turning a famous evening stop into a full Bora Bora stay.

For travellers who want to be amazed by Bora Bora’s lagoon, mountain views and island character without stepping straight into the private island price bracket, Bloody Mary’s Hotel is an exciting new option.

Boutique and breezy on main-island Bora Bora

Bloody Mary’s Hotel is designed for travellers who want to feel Bora Bora beyond the usual resort postcard. The hotel sits on the main island of Bora Bora, close to Po’ai Bay, with Vaitape about 10 minutes by car and Matira Beach about 5 minutes away.

This location gives guests a different kind of freedom. You can stay close to the lagoon, enjoy the pool and small beach area, dine at the hotel, wander into Vaitape, take the shuttle to Matira Beach, or explore more of the island by car.

It is a particularly good fit for guests who want Bora Bora’s beauty and atmosphere, but also want access to island life, restaurants, shops and local services without feeling tucked away on a separate motu.

Rooms, bungalows and suites with island views

Every stay at Bloody Mary’s Hotel begins with a view — water, mountain or both. Accommodation ranges from comfortable land-based rooms to bungalows and suites with direct lagoon access.

The hotel has 53 rooms, bungalows and suites, including Motu View Rooms, Horizon View Bungalows, Otemanu View Bungalows, Sunset View Suites, Panoramic View Rooms and Panoramic View Penthouse Suites.

Motu View Rooms look towards the lagoon, the hotel’s main motu area and the mountains. Horizon View Bungalows sit between sky and sea, while Otemanu View Bungalows frame Bora Bora’s most famous mountain from a private terrace. Sunset View Suites are made for golden evenings by the lagoon, and the Panoramic View Rooms and Penthouse Suites offer a more land-based island stay with mountain-side outlooks.

This range gives travellers flexibility. You can still enjoy water, mountain and lagoon views, but in a boutique main-island setting that feels more social and accessible than Bora Bora’s private island resort scene.

Island Days Your Way

Days at Bloody Mary’s Hotel are easy to shape around your mood. Stay close to the hotel’s pool and small beach area, keep your routine moving in the fitness bungalow, or head to Matira Beach by complimentary shuttle for wider sands and Bora Bora’s best-known public beach.

Kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and snorkelling equipment are available, and the concierge and experiences desk can help guests explore more of Bora Bora’s lagoon and main island.

This is not the kind of stay where everything has to be planned around a private resort schedule. You can dip in and out of the island as you like — lagoon time, beach time, a drink at Bloody Mary’s, a trip into Vaitape, a casual meal at Matira, or an afternoon doing very little at all.

Island secrets & stories shared over dinner

Food and drink are at the heart of Bloody Mary’s. The original Bloody Mary’s Restaurant remains central to the experience, with its sandy floors, thatched roof, wooden tables and fresh fish display.

Guests choose their catch, the chef prepares it, and the evening unfolds in true Bloody Mary’s style — relaxed, lively and open to everyone. It is one of the reasons this property feels so different. You’ll come to realise the restaurant is the heart and soul of this reinvented boutique resort.

The hotel also introduces Povai Bay Bistro, set above the lagoon for breakfast and bistro-style dinners with French influences and island ingredients. La Bella Matira, reached by complimentary shuttle, offers beachside dining along Matira Beach, while Tiki Tide is the place for nibbles and cocktails as the day softens into evening.

For guests who want Bora Bora with atmosphere, good food and a sense of local story, Bloody Mary’s Hotel brings something fresh to the island.
