InterContinental Tahiti

A luxurously easy, full-service, Tahiti Island resort where airport convenience meets lagoon views, tropical gardens, overwater bungalows and a genuine sense of arrival in French Polynesia.

Not just a stopover. InterContinental Tahiti Resort & Spa has its own Lagoonarium — a calm, protected lagoon-style snorkelling area where guests can enjoy tropical fish and the colours of French Polynesia’s marine life without needing to join a full-day tour. It is one of the details that makes this airport-close resort feel far more like the start of a real island holiday than a simple overnight stay.”

Renowned International Resort Comfort with a True Tahitian Feel

One of the easiest and luxurious ways to begin or end a French Polynesia holiday.

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa is one of the most practical and polished ways to begin or end a French Polynesia holiday.

Set on Tahiti Island, close to Faa’a International Airport, this full-service resort brings together the reassurance of a recognised international hotel brand with the gardens, lagoon views, island atmosphere and cultural colour of Tahiti.

A Gateway Resort That Still Feels Like Tahiti

Guests can arrive after an international flight, settle into the rhythm of the islands, swim, dine by the lagoon, enjoy a spa treatment, watch the sun fall toward Moorea, then continue smoothly to Bora Bora, Moorea, Taha’a, Raiatea, Tikehau or another outer island.

It is a strong choice for travellers who want Tahiti to feel relaxing and special from the first night.

Many French Polynesia holidays begin on Tahiti Island. Sometimes that first night is purely practical. Sometimes it is the moment the holiday really begins.

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa is designed for both.

Overwater bungalow options, Polynesian-inspired design, lagoon views, island dining, cultural evenings, and warm local hospitality all help make the stay feel unmistakably Tahitian.

International Standards with Tahitian Flair

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa suits travellers who want the ease of a recognised hotel brand without losing the feeling of being in French Polynesia.

The experience is polished and well supported. Guests have access to full resort facilities, multiple dining and bar options, pools, spa, cultural entertainment, wedding and event services, room category choice and the reassurance of a large international resort.

Yet the mood remains distinctly Tahitian.

The resort is set among tropical gardens beside the lagoon, with views toward Moorea and island evenings that bring music, dance and local atmosphere into the stay.

For many travellers, this balance is exactly the appeal.

It feels luxuriously easy, reliable and special at the same time.

Lagoon Views and Moorea Sunsets

One of the resort’s strongest visual signatures is its outlook across the lagoon toward Moorea.

Guests can enjoy the gardens, pools and waterfront setting while still being close to the airport and Papeete. It is a different experience from Bora Bora or Taha’a, but it has its own beauty.

There is a calm pleasure in arriving, ordering a drink, watching the light change across the lagoon and knowing the holiday has begun without another long transfer.

For stopover guests, this is what makes InterContinental Tahiti so valuable.

It turns a practical night into part of the holiday.

A Smart First or Last Night Choice

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa is one of the easiest hotels to recommend for a first or last night in Tahiti.

Its proximity to the airport helps reduce transfer stress after long-haul flights or before early departures. It is also useful for guests connecting to domestic flights, cruise itineraries or ferry travel.

For travellers heading to Bora Bora, Taha’a, Raiatea, Moorea, or the Tuamotu Islands, the resort offers a comfortable pause between international travel and outer-island logistics.

It gives guests time to land properly.

When budget allows, this is often worth building into the itinerary.

Only wish would have been to stay longer

" We stayed here one night in the Over the Water Bungalow. It was divine! It was roomy, elegant and peaceful. My only wish would have been to stay at least two (if not more) nights. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, which had amazing views. If you are able to afford it, I highly recommend it as you won't regret it...and don't forget to book a reservation at Le Lotus Restaurant which made the stay perfect and was a close walk from our bungalow!"

Resort Facilities

The resort is set within expansive tropical gardens beside the lagoon.

This gives the property a relaxed island atmosphere, even though it sits close to the airport and Papeete. Guests can enjoy open green space, water views, palms, garden paths and places to unwind between flights, tours and island connections.

The setting is one of the reasons the resort works so well as a gateway stay.

It feels convenient without feeling purely functional.

Te Tiare is the resort’s main restaurant.

It serves international and local specialities in a setting surrounded by the resort’s tropical landscape. It is a flexible dining option for breakfast, lunch and dinner, making it especially useful for guests arriving late, leaving early or staying only a short time.

The atmosphere is relaxed and holiday resort-friendly, with enough variety to suit couples, families and longer-stay guests.

Tiki Bar

There is no Tahiti without a bar named “Tiki”!

InterContinental Tahiti has ensured a classic Tahitian meeting place within the resort. Tiki essentially symbolises the connection between gods, humans and nature and in Tahiti is spelt “Ti’i’. Used as a guardian, Ti’i statues and amulets are believed to ward off evil spirits and attract good luck, wisdom, and prosperity. And for modern day, may we just say some of the most delicious-tasting ‘lucky, wise and prosperous’ cocktails:)

This iconic bar has an easy social feel and is popular with both hotel guests and local Tahiti residents. With cocktails, live music, and a relaxed island setting, the resort offers a lively yet comfortable evening atmosphere.

It is a good place to start the night, end the day or settle into the Tahiti holiday mood after arrival.

Lobby Bar Terrace

The Lobby Bar Terrace is open around the clock.

It offers aperitifs, cocktails and snacks in a stylish setting with sunset views. This makes it especially useful for travellers arriving at different times, guests with early or late flights, or anyone who wants a flexible place to pause between activities.

It adds to the resort’s practical strength while still feeling relaxed and polished.

Huriama Garden

Huriama Garden offers fresh tapas and creative cocktails in a garden setting.

The space sits beneath tropical foliage and gives guests another casual dining and drinks option within the resort. It is well-suited to relaxed meals, pre-dinner drinks, and easy afternoons.

This helps broaden the resort’s food-and-beverage mix beyond the main restaurant.

Cultural Theme Nights

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa offers cultural theme nights with food and performance.

These evenings bring together Polynesian dance, local legends, and a culinary experience, helping guests experience Tahitian culture without leaving the resort. This is especially valuable for short-stay travellers who may only have one or two nights on Tahiti Island.

It gives the gateway stay a stronger sense of place.

Tahitian Sunday Brunch

The resort’s Tahitian Sunday Brunch brings together local food, music and a lively island atmosphere.

For guests staying over a weekend, this can be a lovely way to experience the resort’s social side. It also adds appeal for longer Tahiti stays, where guests have time to enjoy the property beyond check-in and departure logistics.

Mini Heiva Events

The resort hosts Mini Heiva programming during selected dates.

These events celebrate Polynesian dance, music and buffet dining, bringing a strong cultural element into the resort experience. For travellers visiting at the right time of year, this can be a memorable addition to the stay.

Event dates and availability should always be checked at quote stage.

Weddings and Events

InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa can support weddings, groups and events.

The combination of international hotel systems, resort facilities, lagoon views and Tahitian atmosphere makes it suitable for destination celebrations, meetings and group travel. It is especially practical for groups needing airport access and established service support.

Wedding parties enjoy InterCon’s international-level event coordination, proximity to the airport and ease of arrival for all guests, and of course the romantic atmosphere.  It is a great wedding location option that allows the wedding couple to depart on their full honeymoon to one of the exotic and iconic outer island destinations.

Le Lotus Swim Up Bar

Le Lotus Swim Up Bar is one of the resort’s more playful facilities.

Guests can enjoy drinks from the submerged bar or from the pool area, creating a relaxed resort-style experience during the day. It suits travellers who want an easy poolside rhythm without leaving the water.

This is part of what makes InterContinental Tahiti feel like a proper resort rather than a simple stopover hotel.

Pools

The resort’s pool areas are central to the stay.

They give guests space to cool off, relax and enjoy the lagoon-side setting.

For overnight guests, the pools make InterContinental Tahiti an easy choice for the first or last night because the holiday feeling starts immediately.

Spa and Wellness

Algotherm Spa gives InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa a calm wellness layer, especially for guests arriving after a long international flight or easing into their final night in French Polynesia.

The spa is Polynesian-inspired, with a treatment menu designed around relaxation, renewal and a gentle start to the holiday. Guests can settle into the lounge with herbal tea before choosing from soothing and rejuvenating spa experiences.

This is a lovely addition to the resort’s gateway appeal. After a flight, before an onward island connection, or at the end of a Tahiti itinerary, Algotherm Spa helps turn a practical stay into something slower, softer and more restorative.

If your type of ‘wellness’ is pounding it out in a fitness centre, InterCon Tahiti also provide a 24 hours fitness centre.

Too many desserts at dinner? Hit the gym at midnight if you dare!
