Ratua Island Resort & Spa

Totally unique and Beautiful!

Hidden on one of Espiritu Santo's outer Islands, Ratua is a resort like no other

Offering both couples and families a rustic eco-luxe holiday experience

Located on its own private island off Espiritu Santo, Ratua Island Resort & Spa is enchanting.

Its stunning location is matched only by its distinctive accommodation – 1 and 2 Bedroom century old teak wood Beachfront Villas and Deluxe Marquees.  Each Villa has a private deck and is quirkily adorned with rustic furnishings, antiques and curios. Many feature an external vintage bathroom attached to the master bedroom or Villa by a covered patio.

The Deluxe Marquees offer a unique ‘glamping’ experience, reminiscent of a luxury safari tent, with ensuite facilities, semi outdoor shower and a front porch overlooking a tranquil bay.

Designed to integrate with environment and minimize impact, each accommodation is carefully sited to provide stunning ocean views and privacy in 3 separate ‘villages’ – Fish, West and South Village. Each village flows from the resort’s central facility and restaurant, The Yacht Club.

146 acre playground

Surrounded by private white sand beaches and a turquoise lagoon laden with sea life and coral reefs, the Island of Ratua is not only visually splendid, but is also a fertile oasis. The island farms much of its own produce, including livestock and organic vegetables, and has its own mature coconut plantation that supplies the resort with the fruit and oil.

With a maximum of 42 guests at any time, space is plentiful. Guests are free to explore the island in its entirety, either by bicycle or horseback. The tranquil lagoon is ideal for SUP, kayaks or snorkelling. For the more thrill seeking, you can water ski or sit tight in a ski biscuit. Or enjoy the best of both worlds and swim with the horses!

Offshore tours are available including fishing, visiting some of Santo’s many sites (dive the SS President Coolidge or swim in Santo’s famous Champagne Beach) or grab a canoe and head to the Malo Blue Hole for a swim in its iridescent waters. Whether you are a couple or a family, there is so much to do.

(It should be mentioned that famillies are welcome in Fish Village year round, and in the West and South Village during designated school holiday periods.)

Luxury – Ratua style

Ratua’s luxury is not that of marble bathrooms and Michelin stars.

Ratua invites travellers to enjoy a more gentle pace. Staff interaction is genuine and authentic. Without the worldly distractions of TV, and WiFi only available in the Yacht Club, days drift along with an undertaking of spontaneous activity. Produce grown on the island is served fresh and is bursting with flavour. The rhythm of the waves entices guests to the overwater Spa for a treatment that relaxes the mind, body and soul.

Strongly committed to sustainability and improving the educational conditions for Ne Van children via its charitable foundation, Ratua is an exceptional resort.  It encourages guests to take a step back and enjoy, ever so briefly, the simple things that make life beautiful.

Truly extraordinary place

Our week-long stay at Ratua was nothing short of magical. For those travelers looking for something truly unique, special and seemingly undiscovered, this is the place. You could believe for an entire week that you had somehow stumbled upon the greatest secret in Vanuatu, and that among this tremendous natural beauty, genuine warmth and friendliness, and return to the elements, you had found the perfect getaway. We spent the week without shoes, without screens and with the happiest children (and adults!) we have ever had TripAdvisor.com
