The perfect vantage point to discover Fiji's mainland and outer islands all in one holiday.

Private island day trips from Denarau Marina

Without a doubt the most popular day trip from Denarau is to visit the nearby islands complete with white sand beaches and colourful reefs. Just a short cruise from Denarau Marina are some of the most beautiful island resorts such as Castaway Island. You’ll cruise out to Castaway on a high speed catamaran.

The beauty of the resort with its perfect white sand and swaying palms stretches before you as you are welcomed ashore. Make use of the resort facilities include a freshwater swimming pool, three bars and a resort boutique. Enjoy lazing in the sun beneath the trees and wander along the soft sand. Snorkel straight off the beach in the crystal clear waters and over vibrant coral reefs.

To maximize Castaway Island’s tropical tranquility, drop off your children at the ‘Kids Club’ (additional cost, payable direct), where they’ll enjoy a mixture of games and fun activities with a Fijian flavor.

On the return cruise to Denarau you’ll take in the sights of other islands in the Mamanuca group.

Gardens of the Sleeping Giants

Nestled in the cool shadows of the big man himself, the GARDEN OF THE SLEEPING GIANT is one of the more pleasant discoveries you’ll make during your visit to Fiji. In fact, this garden could well be one of the best kept horticultural secrets in the whole of the South Pacific. The Garden, which contains a vast collection of more than 2000 varieties of magnificent Asian orchids and Cattleya hybrids, was once the private collection of the late American actor Raymond Burr.
Now open to the public, the garden is a wonderful spot to spend a day just wandering along the canopy-covered boardwalk, through gorgeously landscaped lawns, across calm lily ponds complete with trickling fountains and croaking frogs and finally into the heart of a dense rainforest.

While flowers are the focus of the garden, this is not a place enjoyed only by the horticulturally inclined. The walk along the path cut through a tropical rainforest at the base of the Sleeping Giant Mountain is alone worth the trip and kids of all ages will love the romp across the expanse of manicured lawns.

Shopping

Not quite your high-end shops at home but still a shopaholic purchasing heaven all the same

Denarau Marina

This Marina area is a great place to visit if you are staying at one of the Denarau Island Resorts or waiting for a cruise or island day trip. As the gateway to the Mamanuca Islands there is a lot going on, from island ferries and cruise ships disembarking sunburnt passengers to locals selling their souvenirs.

One of our favourite things to do is to is sit by the water, relax & absorb the sun and watch the luxury boats anchored in the Port. Each evening around 7pm there is Fijian entertainment in the centre plaza, Fijian dancing, torch dancing, singing etc, it varies each night. This is a great little shopping centre with a good range of shops including a supermarket, hot bread shop, chemist, lots of restaurants and souvenir shops. It is also ideal for the kids as it offers a bakery, ice-cream shop and beauty parlour (braids and henna).

Denarau Marina offers about a dozen different restaurants including Hard Rock Café, Indigo serves some of the best Indian food in Fiji, Amalfi (Italian) all with good kids menus. At night a number of these restaurants have live bands creating a lively atmosphere.

Restaurants & Dining

The Rhum-Ba

Located in the Port Denarau Marina, The Denarau Yacht Club has exceptional views of the super yachts and ocean in one direction and the tropical mountains in the other.  The Rhum-ba restaurant (inside Denarau Yacht Club) has a casual yet sophisticated dining experience with loads of atmosphere. A huge deck overlooks the marina, great to grab a table and unwind.

Best known for lunch, dinner or brunch on the weekends. The menu is pretty extensive, with high class meals made from fresh produce and always with a local flare.  The seafood is always excellent here (try the mahi-mahi, crispy snapper), but also caters for the meat lovers with roast lamb & eye fillet steaks.

True to its name, The Rhum-Ba has over 100 rum varieties  to taste from all around the world and the largest (and coldest) selection of draft beers in Fiji, alongside an outstanding wine and cocktail list to accompany your meal. Each week the chef gets inspired by the different country origins of the many rums on offer & recreate their traditional dishes in Rhum-Ba style, paired with rum cocktails.

Lomani Wai

For a special and unique night out, dining at LOMANI WAI (Fijian for in the water) is a must do. Located in the Radisson Blu Resort Lagoon pool, enjoy a traditional Kava ceremony on arrival before you are treated to a three course dinner service experience while dangling your feet in the water.

The food is a set menu, and quite tasty. Drinks are included in a 2 hour beverage pack, so you get a selection of beer, wine, soft. Seating is communal so be prepared to chat to strangers, however eating under the stars in knee deep water will find you pretty relaxed. Drinks are constantly refilled served by big Fijian warriors as you listen to singers with big Fijian smiles. All this makes it a very different dining experience and one you’ll talk about back home.

TIP: Please note the Lomani Wai experience is only available on a Monday night and does book out so plan ahead.
